Hirota/Fukushima are through to the finals after a tough semifinal
Frederik Elmann - 10/20/2018 1:55:20 PM

After an exhausting match Sayaka Hirota/Yuki Fukushima booked their tickets to the finals at DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2018 presented by VICTOR. The couple have dominated so far in the tournament and are looking strong before entering the final tomorrow.

The semifinals are on and every player wants to win the game to have a shot at winning DANISA DENMARK OPEN 2018 presented by VICTOR. The match between Sayaka Hirota/Yuki Fukushima and Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu ended with a win for the Japanese with 21-13, 21-16.

- The players from Indonesia were very good at playing the receive today, and I think that is why the duels became a bit long, said Yuki Fukushima after today’s win.

At the beginning, the match was very even between the players and the rallies were very long. Both couples were playing with patience in first half of the set and the game got close until first break at 11-8 in Japanese favor. After the break, though, the Japanese went on and were fast to pull away. They won the game 21-13

- We had a good tactic before entering the match, but we changed it in order to win. We really made an effort to win this game, says Sayaka Hirota.

In second set, the Indonesians played more aggressive than in the beginning of first set, which led to an early lead in Indonesian favor. However, the Japanese came back strong and took the lead at the break 11-9. The rest of the match the Indonesians played less aggressive and waited with patience for their opponents to make the mistakes. The Indonesian fans were cheering faithfully on their heroes, but in the end, it was not enough to win the game. The Japanese won the second game 21-16 and took the victory and the place in the finals.

Tomorrow, they are facing their countrymen Koharu Yonemoto/Shiho Tanaka in the final in what should be an extraordinary match between the world’s number 6 and world’s number 1.
